Rehman Malik Calls on PM Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here at the PM Secretariat and took him into confidence regarding his visit to Iran. Secretariat sources said that the matter regarding activities of the banned outfits in the flood hit areas came under discussion during the meeting. The PM directed the Interior Minister to monitor the activities of banned outfits as they could not acquire the sympathies of affected people.

He asked the minister to make special security arrangements in the relief camps and to issue directives to the provincial governments in this regard to shield the properties of hapless affectees.

Rehman Malik briefed the PM about his successful visit to Iran and he delivered the messages of PM and President to the Iranian President Ahmadinijad. The Iranian government actively participating in the relief operation for the flood hit people, he added.

He told the PM regarding steps taken for the security in the relief camps and about the monitoring system introduced to monitor the activities of flood affected people, adding no such groups would be allowed to acquire the empathies of affectees. The matters related to prevailing law and order situation especially ongoing riots in Karachi and terrorists attacks in Tribal areas and Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa came under discussion in the meeting.
