7 Top Taliban Commanders Killed in Bajaur

BAJAUR: Inspector General of Frontier Core Major General Tariq Khan has said that at least 54 militants, including 7 important Taliban Commanders have been killed during operation.

Briefing media persons here on Tuesday, the IG FC said that the most wanted culprits including Aurangzeb who was involved in 21 suicide attacks in Punjab was also killed during the operation.

He said that the operation was started in September 2008 in Bajaur but it was stopped and then again the operation was started in January 2010, adding that the security forces had completed the operation in very short period of time.

He said that security forces now had the control from Khar to Afghanistan Border while Maulvi Faqir Ahmed and Qari Zia had left the area and the writ of government has been established in the area. He said that there would be a need of US $ 1 billion for the rehabilitation and development of the whole area.

The IG FC also introduced the tribal elders and Lashkar men fighting the the Taliban to the media; he also showed the mud caves where the militants used to live .The tribesmen celebrated with full zeal and zest after the taking over of FC in Bajaur.
