General
Musharraf: A man Without Credibility
General
Musharraf has taken many oaths since he joined armed forces of
Pakistan. Here are the words of his first oath as an army
officer:
"I, Pervez Musharraf, with a sincere heart
and God as my witness do solemnly swear that I will be faithful
to the State of Pakistan and protect the constitution of
Pakistan, which reflects the wishes of the people of Pakistan.
Further, I will not indulge in any political activity and will
perform my duties in the armed forces with full faith and
honesty. I will go where and howsoever I am ordered to by land,
air or sea and that I will obey all lawful orders given to me by
my superiors without regard to any dangers and threats to my
personal safety. May God be my protector and witness. Amen"
If we look at general Musharraf’s life, he
has clearly violated the oath he took as any army officer. After
becoming illegal president, he is constantly violating his oath
which he took as an army officer.
In first phrase of his oath, he swore by
making God his witness that he will be faithful to the State of
Pakistan.
Is general Musharraf faithful to the State of
Pakistan? His loyalty to the State of Pakistan is doubtful. He
has done many things which clearly indicate that he has acted
against the interests of the State of Pakistan.
Kargil was definitely an act of treason. It
was an open war ran in secretly without taking many relevant
state authorities and institutions in confidence. He did not
seek permission for this operation from the elected prime
minister of Pakistan. He did not take Air Force and Naval chiefs
into confidence. He pushed State of Pakistan into a conflict
which could annihilate the state and cause the deaths of
millions of human beings both on Indian and Pakistani side.
Then he actually committed treason by
violating the article 6 of the constitution of Pakistan. He
violated the article when he illegally took over Pakistan and he
also violated the article by subverting the constitution through
17th amendment. It was his obligation to protect the
constitution of Pakistan which reflects the wishes of the people
of Pakistan. He dishonored the constitution and trampled upon
the wishes of the people of Pakistan.
Since he has become the President (illegal)
of Pakistan, he has constantly engaged in political activities.
He cobbled up PML (Q) to promote his political agenda. He has
chaired many PML (Q) official meetings. He has attended many
political gatherings of PML (Q). He has also many times appealed
to the people of Pakistan to vote for PML (Q) candidates. It is
a gross violation of the oath he took as an army officer.
As far his army duties are concerned, he
promised under oath that he will perform his duties in the armed
forces with full faith and honesty.
He has proved time and again that he has not
performed his duties in the armed forces with full faith and
honesty. He is a dishonest man. He was supposed to retire long
time ago, but he is using his illegitimate power to hold on to
this position against the rules, regulations, and discipline of
the armed forces of Pakistan. There is no such provision in the
laws of the armed forces of Pakistan, under which, he can remain
COAS indefinitely. If he were not the President (illegal) of
Pakistan, he would have retired by now years ago. Since, he
controls the state, he has refused to retire and honor the
rules, regulations and discipline of the armed forces of
Pakistan.
Finally, he was under oath to obey the orders
of the lawful prime minister of Pakistan. In his oath, he had
declared that he will obey all lawful orders given to him by his
superiors without regard to any dangers and threats to my
personal safety. Instead of accepting termination orders by the
prime minister, general Musharraf took law in his own hands and
used military power to oust, arrest, jail and exile the prime
minister. Now, anyone who disagrees with him he advises him to
go to court. Instead of himself going to court to challenge the
orders of the prime minister, he chose to use power and
illegally take over the state of Pakistan.
General Musharraf has proved time and again
that he is not an honest and crdible man. He does not believe in
rule of law and constitution. He is a serious threat to state
institutions and state of Pakistan.
Anyone who aids, abets or supports him is
acting against the interests of Pakistan.
