 If
Zardari’s fake conciliation policy along with Farooq Naik’s and
Rehman Malik’s tactics continue to run Pakistan, probably
suicide attacks like Islamabad will continue in coming months
and years. With this kind of arrangements, Pakistan will never
be able to cure from its ills.
Let us explain why?
First, we all know perceptions are important.
The general perception in Pakistan is February 18 elections have
changed nothing in the country. People feel PPP government is
nothing but continuity of Musharraf regime which is being guided
and controlled from Washington. Empty statements by Prime
Minister Gilani and other PPP ministers denying American
dictation or influence are proving futile to change the
perception.
Why the perceptions are not changing?
Before elections, the major movement that
stirred Pakistan was about restoration of judiciary. Chief
Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry was, and still is, the symbol of
restoration of judiciary. Zardari, Farooq Naik and Rehman Malik
have tried to play smart with the nation.
In the name of conciliation, they have left
Musharraf system in the country intact. Musharraf committed
serious crimes against the constitution, the state and the
people of Pakistan. He has escaped unscathed. Zardari, Farooq
Naik, Rehman Malik, Abdul Hammed Dogar are not interested in
trying Musharraf for his crimes.
Zardari, Farooq Naik, Rehman Malik are trying
to play smart with the people by restoring judges without
restoring Judiciary to the position of November 2, 2007.
Can anyone play smart with the people in
current situation?
Anyone who will try to play smart with the
people will do it on the cost of growing Taliban influence,
suicide bombings, terrorist attacks, greater bloodshed and
lawlessness.
People of Pakistan want a significant change
in Pakistan. They want to see social, cultural, political and
economic justice in the country. The approach to bring this
justice is Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s approach.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry is not a
politician. We wish he was. He could cash on his movement to
become the ruler of Pakistan, but he remained a true judge in
his actions and tactics.
Attack like Islamabad is a horrific thing.
Such attacks cripple nations, destroy their psyches and
eventually push countries on the path to complete destruction
and annihilation.
If anyone thinks he can control such horrific
attacks without changing general Musharraf’s policies, he is
living in fools’ paradise.
Pakistan has reached to the ‘Make or Break’
point. It can become a vibrant country by adopting Chief Justice
Iftikhar Chaudhry’s politico-judicial approach or face ultimate
demise because of Zardari, Farooq Naik and Rehman Malik’s
policies based on fake and deceptive conciliation which means
nothing but protecting high profile criminals.
